Our ideas about publishing homeschooling books

Mapletree Publishing Company was established in 2002. One of the first projects we solicited was a book about homeschooling. We approached Terrie Bittner, a veteran homeschooler and columnist, and offered her a contract to write a book about homeschooling.

Besides making an impact in the homeschooling community, Terrie's book, Homeschooling: Take a Deep Breath—You Can Do This! got the attention of booksellers, with positive reviews in all three major trade review journals: Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, and Booklist.

Following that success, Mapletree decided that homeschooling books would be one of our two focus areas as a publisher, in addition to parenting books.

What we intend to do with homeschooling books:

We plan to apply first-class editing expertise to producing quality books.

We plan to use some of the best cover designers available to make covers for these books that will attract attention.

We will have a two-pronged marketing emphasis, with strong efforts in marketing both to trade bookstores and to organizations of homeschoolers.

We will recruit homeschooling experts to write books for us.
