- Gotham Writers' Workshop – Gotham offers comprehensive writing classes either online or in New York City. They have a wealth of resources to help authors.
- Purdue Online Writing Lab – This site presents coursework on learning how to write. There is an entire library of class handouts and guides, with exercises, on learning how to write, organized by topics and sub-topics. (From Purdue University)
- Robin's Nest – This award-winning site has writers' online courses and workshops are offered in a variety of topics, such as storytelling, using the five senses, and choosing the right title. Or, visit any of the writers' links for web resources for writers.
- Nebraska Center for Writers – An on-line resource for writers of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, providing information, advice, and links of interest to writers and readers. This site provides more than just a collection of links to other sites. It has an excellent and well-organized collection of links to writing-related articles from all over Internet on a wide variety of topics.

- Writers Online – a directory of home pages of published writers
- Advocacy for Writers – links to articles, agencies, and associations supporting the arts and writing

- Author Showcase - This web site has put together a list of about eighty of the most-read books about writing and making money from your writing, with very good reviews of each book.
- Midwest Book Review – Jim Cox of Midwest Book Review has assembled an amazing list of about 150 links to sites that offer help for writers.

- Getting Started- A step-by-step guide to launching your writing career.
- Advanced Writing Tips – Tips on refining and marketing your writing. The site also has columns about various genres of writing: general fiction, children's writing, mysteries, poetry, romance, science fiction, etc.

- Resources for Writers and Writing Instructors – A useful collection of links from Jack Lynch, Asst. Professor of English at Rutgers. It isn't organized, but the links are useful.
- Writing.com – a free online writing community for all readers and writers. Each new member is provided with a free online portfolio, and extensive email services.
- WritersNet – WritersNet is the Internet directory of writers, editors, publishers and literary agents. You can create your own homepage profile to join their database of writers and publishing industry professionals. Once you have a profile, you can exchange ideas with other members in their discussion forums and benefit from their combined experience of the writing world. Includes an "Internet Directory of Published Writers" - list yourself or browse other writer's listings.
