EXPLANATION
5 Chocolate chips = Couldn’t Be Better
2 Chocolate chips = Average
0 Chocolate chips = You Could Do Better
Collect the chocolate chips in your
own container. Mom or Dad will give them to you several times during
the day. At night, when you are ready to go to sleep, you can count up
how many you have (Mom or Dad will help you count).
You can decide whether or not to eat
them or to save them to turn in for a penny each. Remember, you can
only eat them or turn them into pennies when Mom or Dad say.
“Good Attitude” means that you smile
and talk nicely. If you don’t want something, you say, “No thank you.”
You say, “Please”, “thank you” and “you’re welcome.” You never hit,
spit, or kick. You try to do nice things for people. You share and are
kind. You act as grown up and polite as you can. If you don’t have a
good attitude, you lose chocolate chips.
“Picking Up” means that you put trash
in the garbage can. You put away your toys and clothes where they
belong. You are helpful and do more than your share.
“Growing” means that you do things
which need to be done (Brower kids have three chores–Player kids will have
three chores while staying with the Browers or at Grandma’s). You set the
table, sweep the floor, clean up trash in the car, or any other chore that
Mom or Dad assign.
Mom and Dad will decide how many
chocolate chips you get. They will give you the chips according to how
well you do for how old you are. You can get lots of chocolate chips by
doing your best.
*Note to Mom and Dad. During the day,
put the chips into the containers and take them out as you need to control
your child. As the child gets older and understands numbers, you will
need to be more concrete and can actually write them down. Counting the
chips into the container is a good way to boost number concepts.
Also, keeping the container, with the
child’s name written on it, where it can be seen (but not grabbed) will
inspire your child. Most kids like seeing the pile grow.
