Meridian Magazine Features Story about Threads of
Honor
The
Wednesday, May 19 issue of the LDS internet magazine,
Meridian, featured, as its lead story, a piece written by Mapletree
president David Hall about the Challenger flag. This is the story
that is told by Mapletree's recent book release, Threads of Honor.

Publishing Company.
Threads of Honor has been
available for a couple of weeks now from
, from general
nationwide bookstores, and from Deseret Book and other LDS bookstores.
In January of this year we signed a
distribution contract with National Book Network, a well-known distributor
based in Lanham, Maryland. National sales for Mapletree for all of our
titles are being handled for us by their Biblio division. Their sales
representatives are getting our books placed in bookstores across the
country.

News About Mapletree's Titles
A Question of Consequence Attracts National
Attention
Gordon Ryan's newest political novel, A
Question of Consequence, has been released in the LDS market and will be
released in national markets in July or August. We have already been
notified that the American Library Association has selected A
Question of Consequence for a starred review in its June issue of
Booklist, which means that Booklist considers the book to be
"outstanding in its genre." Way to go, Gordon!
Association for Mormon Letters reviewer Jeff Needle was also very impressed
with the skill Gordon used in weaving together the three story lines, with
the depth of the characters, and with the lessons taught by the book. "This was
a terrific read. I enjoyed every page of it. Once again, author Gordon Ryan
has given us a thoughtful, entertaining, and ultimately satisfying work of
fiction. I recommend this book without reservation."
In a separate article, after seeing two of our
books, Jeff Needle complimented Mapletree on the quality of our work.
"Mapletree Publishing seems to know what it's doing when it comes to
publishing. From cover design, to typeface and size, binding and overall
quality, their products appear to be better than other independent, small
publishers." We are trying hard to maintain high standards of quality in all
we do. It's nice to be noticed.
Livin' in High Cotton Receives High Praise from
Well-Known Southern Author
New York Times bestselling author Deborah
Smith, who is well-known throughout the South and has written such popular
novels as A Place to Call Home, Sweet Tea and Jesus Shoes, Hold on Tight,
Miracle, and others, wrote a cover blurb for Mapletree's
soon-to-be-released novel, Livin' in High Cotton. She wrote that this
first novel from Jennifer Leigh Youngblood and Sandra Poole is: "A
compelling story of family loyalty, love, loss, and strength, as warm and
fertile as the rich red clay of a Georgia field. The inspiring, hardscrabble
lives of Depression-era southerners make for a vivid story of love and
forgiveness."
We've had many inquiries about this book from
customers and bookstores, which is giving us to feel that it will be a big
seller. It will be released into the LDS market next month and the national
market a couple of months after that. We've been getting quite a few
pre-publication orders for this book from our web site.
Homeschooling Book Gets Key Endorsement
Well-known homeschooling and parenting author Carol Barnier,
author of How To Get Your Child Off the Refrigerator and On to Learning
and If I'm Diapering A Watermelon Then Where'd I Put the Baby? had a
chance to review our upcoming book by Terrie Lynn Bittner: Homeschooling:
Take a Deep Breath—You Can Do This! "What a wonderful resource!" she
said. "This book could have saved me buckets of frustration had it been
around when I began homeschooling. What a gift to any parent who doesn't
feel they're up to the task of homeschooling. Instead of sharing yet more
'Super Mom' stories, Terrie addresses real concerns in a way that disarms
the fear and boosts the confidence. It is like sharing a cup of tea with the
successful, resourceful 'homeschooling friend' you always wished you had."
This title will be out before the LDS
Booksellers Association convention and we aim to have it in bookstores
before the summer is over.
